A Day in the Life of Boo

I write a lot about my daily comings and goings and things that involve the both of us, but rarely is a post dedicated to the person I love to drive nuts the most with my bizarreness:  El.  If that man was Catholic, he’d be on the fast-track to being the first living Saint canonized for putting up with my wackiness. Not only that, but he rescues my ass when I bite off more than I can chew (case in point:  my failed attempt at being a matador).  Besides his always full load of keeping me alive, Boo has been quite the busy one these past few months.  Most of you know that he finished his MBA program earlier this fall, but what a lot don't know is that he did that while working well over 60 hours a week and traveling to other MB locations to help out when they were short staffed.  Ever the ambitious one, he is still taking classes towards ANOTHER degree, this one being a Masters in Strategic Management.  The way he described it, it's like having a degree in bullshitting, at least that's what he's taken away from his classes so far.  He'll finish up with this second degree in May, and then he is D-O-N-E with escuela.  Neither one of us has any desire to be known as Dr. Brouse (Although this could be an appealing option), so I think we are done-zo with that phase of our lives.  We can't wait to do more fun things together on the weekends like hiking and going to museums (okay, so maybe I can't wait for those specific things) and not have to worry about whether or not he can work on an assignment.  As the kids these days say:  holllerrrrrr!

Besides the school thing, he's been hella busy doing AF reserves duty and at work.  With Mickey D's being the largest fast food chain in the world, and logistics being a 24/7/365 type of gig, you can imagine that he's been working some cray hours.  The hours blow, but I do enjoy hearing the crisis stories he tells when he gets home.  A crisis in my line of work usually involves the copier jamming, Middle Schoolers crying over not getting asked to a dance (although no one takes dates), and having awkward conversations about the necessity and glory of deodorant.  Shit hits the fan at Elliot's job when the McWraps haven't been delivered in time or Grimace files yet another claim with workman's comp.  Obviously that last one is made up, but slightly off-topic, what the hell IS Grimace?  Anyway, the biggest crisis was probably when the warehouse RAN OUT OF CHICKEN NUGGETS.  Utter.  FAN SHITTING.  You can't mess around with people's nuggets; they will knife you for that business.  Fortunately, Elliot waved his magic wand made out of a french fry and all was well.  Crisis averted.  But you get the picture about the types of fires he has to put out.

El's company actually just moved warehouses and are located in this brand new facility out in Manassas, VA.  For anyone not familiar with the area, Manassas is about 35 miles west of DC, close to the Blue Ridge Mountains and West Virginia.  They had a big grand opening party and truck "road-eo" when they opened, and El gave me a tour of where the magic happens.  I also got to climb up into a Mickey D's big rig.  I unfortunately forgot a sweet trucker hat to complete the look.

Honk, honk, bitches

Glory
Considering how many McDonald's stores (he calls them stores, not restaurants) there are in the area, the number of people who work in the Transportation Department with him is relatively small.  They've been pretty short-staffed lately, which has led to El working longer shifts.  One of their Supervisors has been in Singapore for the past few months working on a project, so they've been down a worker while he's been over there.  They're currently training a newly hired guy, and they've gotten some guest help from another MB location, so those things have lightened the load a bit.  For those of you who know El though, you probably already know what a hard worker he is and how he has filled in for the missing Supervisors on top of his regular Management load.  I'm proud of him for being a considerate and hard worker, but we're both hoping that things calm down soon so he can rest a bit.

Work's busy because they also had to let go of a few folks for pretty salacious reasons.  Without getting too into it, two workers were fired because they were hooking up.  Whatever, it sometimes happens that people who work together are going to get involved, and even though both are married to other people, Elliot's not the Morality Police and their personal lives are not his concern.  When you're making out with your boob out in the work bathroom during your shift, however, then your personal life snowballs into Elliot's domain.  I couldn't stop laughing at the mental image I got of Elliot trying to keep a straight face when he's hearing this.  He probably looked like this:

While inside, he felt like this:

You want to get down, that's your own business, but if you wanna get down while you're supposed to be working, then it's the company's business.  So they gots to go.

Oh, it gets so much better.  Once they were let go, they had to turn in their company cell phones.  The first thing I asked was if there were any nudie pics sent between the two workers.  El said he didn't want to look, but there were some texts between the girl and a worker arranging an exchange of venison for oral sex.  That's right:  sexual favors for deer meat.  Pardon my crudeness, but there are easier ways of getting deer meat than gettin' down on your knees.  You can go to a butcher!  You can hunt it yourself!  I guess you gotta admire this gal's "can do" attitude; she was gonna work for her meat, dammit! (Pun completely intended, btw)  And holy hell, does the guy get off easy: (Again, pun totally intended), all he needs to do is pack a cooler and, BOOM, the workplace becomes a massage parlor in Thailand.  I trust Boo completely, so I fortunately don't have to worry about him wheeling a cooler full of squirrel meat through the door one day.

Besides venison for vag and being busy at work, El is doing really well.  We are both very happy and love the life we have built back here in DC.  We've been going to Caps games when we can and just enjoying overall enjoying life.  In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I'm thankful for Boo and how happy we make each other.  Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to prep Thanksgiving dinner.  Anyone know a good place to get venison?
